How to Diagnose the Knee Pain?
Your doctor will likely refer you to a physical therapist for NYS physical therapy telehealth. At your first session, we will evaluate your knee pain and determine your threshold of discomfort. We will look for any signs of possible tears or other major injuries, which may require more specialized care. If we conclude that there are no major injuries to the tendons or ligaments, we can begin to undergo physical therapy care. This will involve extensive stretching and strength building exercises to work towards minimizing your pain.
What Can Treat Back Knee Pain?
Before participating in NYS Physical Therapy Telehealth, you should try “RICE”, the most common and recommended treatment method. That stands for:
- Rest
- Ice
- Compress
- Elevate
The RICE method can help alleviate swelling and pain, but it will not heal the injury. You can also take anti-inflammatory medicine to help ease the pain and swelling. If you try those suggestions and the pain is still persistent over the next few days, the next recommendation would be to see your physical therapist so they can diagnose the cause of the pain. Wearing a knee brace, exercising, physical therapy, weight loss, cortisone injections to help reduce pain and inflammation, or surgery may be alternative options of treatment.
